The LA Galaxy star David Beckham and Landon Donovan will join the DP of the New York Red Bulls, Thierry Henry, to play the All-Star 2011 in MLS, the team of 22 players who will face Manchester United this 28 July at Red Bull Arena Game MLS All-Star (8:30 pm ET, ESPN2, Galavision and TSN).
Team manager Hans Backe (New York Red Bulls), was the selected list, which includes four Latin players: Faryd Mondragon (Philadelphia Union), Omar Bravo (Sporting KC), Jamison Olave (Real Salt Lake) and John Agudelo (NY Red Bulls).
Due to the format of the competition the All-Stars - MLS vs. the World - MLS Backe asked to select players from all that were available, and built a dynamic list Backe and balanced, full of talented players in the league. Backe has several successes against Manchester United, including two victories in the 2007-08 season Manchester City, where Backe was the assistant coach of former coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Backe Stars selected to the eight who were chosen by fans - including the vote-winning AT & T text Sporting Matt Besler Kansas City - will be available to play July 27. Kasey Keller (Seattle Sounders FC) and Brek Shea (FC Dallas) are not available due to the CONCACAF Champions Cup match during the week of All-Star Game. Besides the Mexican star Marquez (New York Red Bulls), defender Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy) is not in the game due to injury.
In addition to Donovan, who will add eleven participations in this event, the former Manchester United, Beckham and world champion, Henry, the list also includes veterans of the All-Star Game as Shalrie Joseph (New Enlgand Revolution) Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo) and Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake).
